Make some noise for Axelle Calcus: She just obtained an ERC starting grant!

Right in time for the festive period of the year, we have one more reason to celebrate: Prof. Axelle Calcus just received an ERC starting grant for her project SensationaHL. In this 5-year project, Axelle will work with a team of PhD and postdoctoral researchers to trace the trajectory of complex auditory processing through adolescence. The project will explore the hypothesis that there is not one, but two sensitive periods during which children refine their hearing abilities. SensationaHL will explore this potential second period with several different methods, including hormone analysis, neuroimaging, and psychophysics. The results of the project might not only be relevant for other researchers, but also for children with normal hearing and those with hearing loss. Congratulations, Axelle!
